The Bear and
the Bee: Interactive Story

The Bear and the Bee follows the fictional story of a paleontologist who has discovered how to extract memory fragments from bone samples. He tells you the story of the first memories he was able to extract from two bone fragments that, by chance, had known each other in life and were now reconnecting over a thousand years later.

This series kit includes a book, memory cards, a notebook to record memories, a wooden sign and a wooden box to contain the smaller items. The goal for this project was to create a kit inspired by long distance relationships and have it help connect people in long distance relationships connect through shared experiences.

The challenge with this project was finding a way to have the story connect through all of the items in a way that was logical and also allowed the story to sequence correctly.

Throughout the pieces, there is a mixture of historical scientific illustrations and my illustrations to create a feeling as if you are looking through the paleontologists notes. To add to this illusion, there are also handwritten elements throughout the pages to show what notes have been taken while studying the specimens.

For the wooden pieces, they are a mixture of hand carved and laser cut plywood. Both pieces were stained and polished to create a premium feeling
